Welcome to UNPLUG!
Throughout March, Residential Life wants
you to find your DOT and Do One Thing while competing in the
UNPLUG Energy Conservation Competition! This is the fifth
annual UNPLUG competition among on-campus communities to see
which community can reduce energy consumption the most.
UNPLUG seeks to promote an understanding throughout the LSU
on-campus community of what energy conservation entails, by
empowering students to take action in their daily lives.
This is done by working to reduce the students’ own personal
carbon footprint and, consequently, increase the
university’s contribution to conservation of resources and
energy efficiency.
Hosted by
LSU Residential Life,
Enactus (formerly Students in Free Enterprise),
and LSU
Campus Sustainability,
UNPLUG pits 10 residential communities against one another
to conserve energy and water for three weeks in March.
Residents also are competing
against 150 other schools through
www.Competetoreduce.com.
Learn more details and the history of Unplug on the “What is
Unplug?” page.
For now, here’s what YOU can do:
1. DO your one thing! Make small
adjustments to your daily routines to save energy, recycle,
reduce water and food waste or live better. Unplug your
phone charger, turn off lights, take the stairs, or take
shorter showers. Look for more tips throughout the
competition!
2. Do One Thing & Tell The World!
Facebook Users:
Update your status with “I pledge to [insert your pledge
